After weeks of trying to clean up the clutter, we had one final big weekend cleaning push and are done. I was worried the house was still too messy. Some home study social workers are very picky. Like wanting the house child proofed, even though we don't know her age yet for example. But our social worker is very down to earth.
Our visit was long and she asked many more personal questions than I thought she would.
"describe yourself, how would others describe you, describe your spouse"
"what activiites did your family do when you were a child."
and the list went on and on. I assumed there would be plenty of questions about our parenting style and current family dynamics but underestimated the questions on our childhoods.
It's over now. And she barely even glanced at the house. We spent almost the entire 2 1/2 hours at the dining table answering questions. The boys were not immune either. They both got picked up early from school so they could have their interviews too. When she asked Eric how other people would describe him he said "ask them". One of the questions for the boys was "What will you do when little sister gets into your stuff?". Dalton said-Pick it back up. Eric said-Ask Dalton what he did when she got into his stuff.
I've sent more paperwork to CAWLI. Photos of the house and our family. Dustin's work verification. And much more. This paperwork will be translated and sent to china in our dossier. We should receive a rough draft of our home study soon. CAWLI has to check it over to be sure it says what they want it to say to China. Small changes are usually made in wording. Don't mention a certain thing or really focus on something important to China. Earlene has written many home studies and she said most of hers don't require revision anymore because she knows what to say. However each placement agency is a little different and she hasn't worked with CAWLI before.
